Vampire Weekend created a commercial-friendly non-denominational holiday song with “Holiday.” And now that things need to be bought and sold for Christmas, “Holiday” is showing up in a few places. The first is this ad for prep purveyor Tommy Hilfiger, which uses a Futura, or Futura-like font for the title card. It’s the font that Wes Anderson uses in every film — Vampire Weekend did their own Anderson-like video for “Oxford Comma <http://stereogum.com/10591/get_ready_for_vampire_weekends_oxford_comma_video/video/> ,” and name-drop it in the lyrics to “Holiday” too. The “Holiday”-soundtracked Honda commercial focuses more on the winter season than the band associations, though “holiday,” in the context of the song, refers more to a summer vacation or trip abroad.
